Family: Married to Susan in 1966: two ceremonies, first in Patna, then Sheffield, UK, Vijaya was best man in UK, Frs Murphy and Cox attended Patna wedding. Three Children: Eldest Krishna, PhD from Cambridge, now world class expert in Nanotechnology, Cambridge based, married to Samatha, son Jay, 2 yrs old Sanjay, BSc (Hons) in Hotel Management from London University, Managing Director of his ATS Group in Accra, Ghana serving Gold and Copper mines in East, West Africa and Zambia, looking after miners and their daily lives. Savita, youngest, BA in History and MA in Information Technology from Warwick University, fund raiser for Charities in North London, loves her work, married to Matthew who is working hard to be a chartered accountant.

Education: After St Joseph's Convent, Patna, came to St. Xavier's in 1949 Cambridge Overseas Certificate achieved in 1956
St Xavier's Calcutta for ISc, then, 1956-58 Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad for Mining degree, BSc with Hons from Ranchi University
1958-62 University of Sheffield, UK M Eng degree (Air Flow in Mines Study)
1962-63 University of Sheffield, UK for PhD (Gas Analysis by Gas Chromatography, Safety in Mines), resulting in a career change from Mining to Applied Science

Professional Life: From 1966 to 1977, worked for two Multi-national companies, both with strong Indian bases, required frequent travel to South Asia for sales, and to USA for new product development in Scientific instrumentation emphasis was on gas analysis and occupational safety. Oct 1977: We set own company, now Spantech Products Ltd, first with a London base, then in 1984 South of London in Surrey near Gatwick Airport. Spantech Products Ltd concentrated on India as its market, encouraging transfer of technology and changing with the economic climate, most significant of which was the liberisation of the economy in 1992. Kept up with the changes India, average trip twice or three times a year until 2001. British National since 1972, necessitated by needs to travel to Pakistan.

Hobbies: Earlier used to play cricket and squash, now only follow sport, gardening with a collection of roses, fruits. Susan is a great believer in home made wine, so she bottles about 150 bottles each year from our garden products.World-wide travel is a major part of our life, often based on weekend trips which combines our business with tourism.

Most significant achievement: Our Company which has catered for a lot of transfer of technology and products for Safety in India (and other parts of the world)

Most significant disappointment: The failure of my Publishing Business in India set up in mid 1980s, published some beautiful books, thanks largely to Vijaya Varma's brother (Bhola Varma).

Passionate about: Our children who have grown up to become loving, caring and responsible citizens of the world.
