After school, I did my Intermediate Science from St. Xavier's College Ranchi, an institution run by Belgian Jesuit Fathers, in the year 1959. Thereafter I graduated in Elect. Engg. from B.I.T. Sindri in 1963. I worked initially for a couple of years at Patratu Thermal Power Station (near Ranchi) which then was under construction with Russian collaboration. Later I joined Dishergarh Power Supply Co, an electric power utility which catered to the industries and collieries of the Raniganj/Asansol coal belt.

In 1970 I moved on to Delhi Electric Supply Undertaking and continued therein till my retirement few years ago as Superintending Engineer. My field of work was mainly in the area of power generation of coal based central power stations, although I gained some experience of erection of extra high voltage (400 KV) grid substations and planning and construction of 11 KV distribution networks.

Meanwhile somewhere along the way,I decided to hitch my future with Shanta by entering into a lifelong partnership. That alliance, allegedly made in Heaven, is still as strong as ever, even after a passage of almost 34 years. Our only child, a daughter, Indrani is a software professional and is presently working with Fidelity Investments, an U.S. Multinational.
